“If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.”

― Mother Teresa

Callahan Financial Planning Company, in its 2016 Callahan Financial Planning Gives campaign, asked its clients to each nominate a charity they wished to receive 5% of our annual income.

This year, our clients chose the Food Bank for the Heartland. This selection seems timely, with the food bank being in particular need in recent years. Thanks to our clients and our donation, approximately 18,000 more meals will be provided to those in need in the heartland this year. Thank you to all of our clients for taking the time to vote, and for helping us make this possible.

Here are the top five charities receiving votes from our clients in 2016:

Winning Recipient
Food Bank for the Heartland
Runners Up
Wounded Warrior Project
Open Door Mission
Nebraska Humane Society
Doctors Without Borders

Thank you again to all of our clients and staff for making this program a big success again this year!

A few notes on the Callahan Financial Planning Gives rules and process:

The process is completed by utilizing the previous year’s top ten submissions, which are based on a combination of the ability to write-in a charity and a list pre-filled of the top ten charities from the previous year.

Each client was allowed one vote. A client was defined as a household, which may contain one or more individuals. In the event more than one vote was received in a single household, the vote was registered for the more common charity (measured by the total number of independent votes). When variations of a charity name were nominated, we used the local equivalent for each vote. Employees of Callahan Financial Planning Company are not eligible to vote. Charities were considered eligible if they are recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization.
